What is PBD Ultralight?

The question has come up.... why.... why does PBD Ultralight (Packback Designs) exist? Why do you make packs and gear.... well.....the answer is quite simple:

We want to give something "special and unique" back to the hiking and backpacking community.

In today's world, we, as consumers, can pretty much get anything we want online and once ordered, bamm.... it shows up at our door. I mean, I needed ink toner for my HP printer today and a couple clicks on amazon and seriously within 3 hours someone showed up at my door with ink. To anyone over 40 years old this is just plain crazy. Like, we could not get pizza delivered this fast in 1992. Anyhow, how does this apply to hiking and backpacking.... well.... if you want an Osprey or Kelty pack, you can order one the same way and most likely get it that fast. Then if you don't 100% like it, just click return it. We, here at PBD, realize this and truly have no desire to compete with that type of mass production. All our packs are handmade, here in the USA and even though we have created in stock packs, we are completely open and encourage you to customize and create your own PBD trailpack.  

Now we do have to stay within our basic trailpack design, but the colors, fabric, mesh, drain holes, patch or no patch, these are all changable. 

If you see something that you like in our inventory but want sometime slightly or completely different, please just email us. Take about 2-3 weeks to make a custom trailpack and we would be more than happy to make you something that no other hiker in the world has.
