What's so good about PBD Packs?

I am a consumer first and foremost. I love to buy gear among other things. I love buying gear so much, I actually started PBD as a way to get a little more than the market was offering.
This being said, I get the question often. What's so special about a PBD pack. Why, with so many other pack maker options, would I buy one of your packs.
Here is my short answer.
1 - Pockets.
Our water bottle pockets and pocket skins are second to none. If you want "grab while you go" access to your stuff, i.e. Chapstick, Nalgene bottles, cell phone, bandana, gloves, harmonica, sunglasses, sunscreen, snack bars...… then you want one of our packs. They all have easy access to your stuff, and you don't even need to take your pack off.

One additional pocket to mention is our extra large "main-pack" pleated pocket. Other makers opt to have shorter, narrow and tight main pockets but not us, we wanted more liters for very little extra weight. Looking at one of our PBD Packs, you can almost say we have more outside storage capacity then we do inside the pack.
2 - Padding.
All our pack shoulder straps are made with 1/2" closed cell foam. Other companies will make their shoulder straps with 1/8, 1/4 or even 3/8.... but not us. We go big, big on comfort. They might look a little puffy at first, but within a couple hikes they tone down and man are they comfortable. We also sell a number of add-on padding options, like our back pad, shoulder pads, padded belt and lumbar pads, all made with Dryfast 1" cushiony foam.
3 - Options.
I just love options. Everything I design must give the user options. Some might think our packs appear boring, simple or style-less, but it's for a reason. We want you, the user, to choose what you want. Also this helps keep the pack weight down. :) So, instead of giving you large 1" compression straps all over the place, we just give you 1/2" little tabs. You get to customize your compression.... or what you want to hang on them. I personally love to hang my PBD small zipper "Town" pouch off the back of my pack. REI will give you tons of unnecessary odd shaped zipper pockets, we give you tabs to do what you want with it. Everything about our packs grants you options, it's actually in the design.
4 - Colors.
Why live in a world of just black and white, especially, when you can have tons of color choices? PBD's logo expresses our desire..... it's colorful. We try to make all our products available in a wide range of colors and fabric choices. If you see something we make, but you would like it in a different color or fabric, just ask. We can help.
So that's about it. I mean, it's a bag. All packs have sides, front and back and bottoms. UL Backpacks are all really the same. We, at PBD Ultralight, would like to just offer you something a little unique, granting you an enjoyable passage to a great outdoor adventure.
